TMS Academy was recently highlighted by First Coast News in their Stories of Service segment, written by Rich Donnelly. The feature focuses on the 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Academic Institution’s mission to help servicemembers transition from military life to successful IT careers. Located in St. Augustine, Florida, TMS Academy offers IT certification training and professional development through virtual and remote learning options, designed to fit the schedules of active-duty military personnel.
Brandon Floyd, TMS Academy’s Military Education Officer, explained how the organization not only helps servicemembers obtain necessary certifications but also assists with job placement. “Our job and our mission is to help as many servicemembers as we can with career paths,” said Floyd.
“Knowledge of computers, software, efficiency, continual learning, understanding, and soft skills are needed in my field. Data analysis, writing a report, and managing data are also important. Having to study and read data and entry analysis while getting to understand what happens on the backend of my data entry has really been eye opening as I can see what happens in the Cloud and now understand the process apart from the user experience on the front end.
I love that I can take all of my classes and labs online. Having a virtual lab for IT and tech programs is so innovative and a unique approach that works and is so easy to use. The material is well spread out and not a huge jump – it’s a crawl, walk, and then run!
TMSA also provided a computer and equipment at no cost to me, which sets TMSA apart from other training organizations that don’t offer that. ”
